Quick Contour and Highlight How-To
Saturday, June 20, 2009 @ 8:45 AM

Want defined features? A slimmer nose, beautimous cheekbones and a scuplted jaw?
Just 2 powders and a few minutes is all you need.

I made this video to show a quick way to contour when you don't have much time to get ready.
There are several ways to contour and highlight a face to accentuate your features but I chose to start out with somewhat of a beginners how to.
I chose powders because they are easier to work with right off the bat in order to get adjusted to placement. I plan to make a more in depth video of contour, highlight and blush in the near future.

Small Ulta Haul
Thursday, June 18, 2009 @ 11:33 AM

Made a trip to Ulta to pick up the highly acclaimed 'Maui Babe Browning Lotion' I learned about from reading xppinkx's blog. Girl knows what she's talkin' about, this stuff is amazing!
My first tanning session this summer ended with a lobster burn that I rarely get but when I do I cannot move. 'Maui Babe' promises a fast, deep tan without any burn and it lives up to it.

Check the tan line after just 10 minutes layin' on my stomach ^^

I recommend this to everyone looking to get a tan! They make 2 formulas, one for outdoors and one for tanning beds. (I used the outdoor of course)
Another bonus, it make my skin feel sooooo smooth and it smells good too.
The scent can be kinda strong so if you dislike a hazelnut/coffee kinda smell then it might not be for you, I however don't mind walking around smelling like a Starbucks :P
Lastly, like Pink mentioned, make sure to wear darker clothing to avoid this stuff staining your lighter beach wear.

Of course I couldn't just buy 1 item comsidering I rarely get around to Ulta.
I also picked up 2 NYX pencils that I can never manage to find in stock online...anywhere.
annnd I searched their clearance stuff on my way out. Found adoreable nail polishes and the perfect moisturizer I've been looking for.

Price stickers removed to show the colors

Items in order from picture above
Garnier Nutritioniste Ultra Lift Anti-Wrinkle Moisture Cream in 'Glow'
(With a touch of sunless tanner)
Maui Babe Browning Lotion (Outdoor)
Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk'
Nyx Jumbo Lip Pencil in 'Soft Fuschia'
Orly nailpolish in 'Everything's Rosy'
Essie nailpolish in 'Guilty Pleasures'
Essie nailpolish in 'Looking for Love'
Essie nailpolish in 'Great Expectations'

On the way home we had to stop at the dollar store for a few home things and I seen they stocked some Maybelline lipsticks, at $1 a pop I grabbed a few.

On a completely different but equally girly note... I am now the proud owner of the cutest Wii remote and DS cover XD

Cherry Culture Haul & Swatches
Wednesday, January 7, 2009 @ 6:17 PM

Sooo I got my order in right after Christmas but I have failed to post anything about it until now due to the flu.
Which, I know, seems like the perfect time to curl up in bed with my laptop and update things to keep myself entertained, however I had to work so yay.

Anyway, back on topic :P

As for swatches I made a vid.
Check out the video on my youtube and click "watch in high quality" for better pix.

Clicky HERE

The package arrived at my door like minutes before I had to leave for work, so you can imagine how anxious I was to get home and play with everything.
I waited until the next day to so the lighting would be better for pictures and it was all worth the wait =3

I ordered 11 Amuse pencils, 9 eye and 2 lip, at $ .50 a piece.
They're somewhat soft but apply pretty smooth.
I was hoping for the lighter browns to be light but they go on pretty dark, not a real bad thing I just won't be using them for brow pencils anytime soon :P
The colorful ones take a little bit of layering to show up bright.
No major complaints on the liners, and who could for $ .50 each right?

I also got quite a few NYX products. There aren't any stores nearby that carry NYX so I have been so excited to try them. I got a green concealer wand, 2 single eyeshadows, 6 Ultra Pearl Mania pigments, 1 Mega Shine Lipgloss and 15 Round Lipsticks.
Short reviews product by product:

Green Concealer ($5.00)- Awesome! Smooth texture so application is easy. I have slight Rosecea on my cheeks, my left especially, and it can be really hard to cover the flare ups. I applied a thin layer of this on the problem areas before my foundation and the final result was unbelieveable.

Single Eyeshadows ($3.50 each)- Soft texture, pretty easy to blend and nice color payoff. I got Golden Orange and Vanilla Sky and the colors are very true to the names. Golden Orange is a beautiful orange with a golden shimmer and Vanilla Sky is a light, almost nude color with slight white gold shimmer, perfect for highlighting the brow bone.

Ultra Pearl Mania Pigments ($1.25 each)- Very nifty little things they are. I got these in Pearl, Nude, Mink, Mocha, Silver and Rust. All are very shimmery and pigmented. A little goes a long way, however, make sure you have a good base or they have a tendency to wear thin pretty quickly. I used a cream eyeshadow and mine stayed in place and the colors were bold until I washed them off. Once again, can't complain with that kinda price.

Mega Shine Lipgloss ($4.00)- Love this stuff! They had so many colors to choose from but I have been wanting a bright red gloss for the longest time. I got this in Plush Red and I love it! You can do one coat with a light hand and it'll show up kind of a sheer strawberry color or apply a coat as you would regularly and it is a gorgeous plush red, hence the name :P Also a plus, it has a slight fruity scent, kinda black cherry scented.

Round Lipsticks ($1.50 each)- My favorite things from the haul by far! I have never been a lipstick kinda girl and it made me sad. Everytime I put some on I felt that I looked strange and ended up taking it off right away :/
NYX Round Lipsticks have MADE me a lipstick kinda girl I am so happy to say ^^
They have soooooo many colors to choose from, the color payoff is perfect plus they have a smooth texture and don't dry out my lips.
I got these in Indian Pink, Iris, Pumpkin Pie, Circe, Summer Love, Frappucino, Frosted Flakes, Fig, Doll, Thalia, Tea Rose, Electra, Vitamin, Mute, and Sky Pink. The colors stand alone are awesome but my favorite thing to do is layer 2 colors <3 href="http://www.cherryculture.com/">Cherry Culture

Coastal Scents *dances*
Friday, December 19, 2008 @ 5:55 PM

After months and months of an inner debate I finally made my big Coastal Scents purchase.
I had heard nothing but good things about them, had done my research and all but it took some time cause I knew that the order would be rather large and expensive.
I decided to go ahead with it when they had their sale on everything on Dec. 1st.
I got almost everything I was after, the only things they were out of was their black gel eyeliner and some little jars with a square base I wanted for my broken eyeshadows and whatnot.

I hope to do swatches of all of this in the future.
It is a pretty big task to take on considering all the colors :P

Now for the haul and reviews ^^

-All wrapped up-

-Heavily bubble wrapped palettes-

-Cases closed, boxes and packaging-

*Drumroll*

I gots:

28 Piece Neutral Eyeshadow Palette
10 Piece Blush Palette
6 Piece Contour and Blush Palette
Matte Case 88 Ultra Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette
Matte Case 88 Eyeshadow Palette
Crimson Glitter 1 Tsp Sample
Tinsel Glitter 1 Tsp Sample
Treasure Chest 1 Tsp Sample
Jade Green Glitter 1 Tsp Sample (Free Gift from CS)
Gel Liner in Indigo Blue
Gel Liner in Platinum
Gel Liner in Silk White
Black on Black Taklon Angle Liner Brush
White Angled Liner Brush
1 Sifter Jar 30 gram with Seals
1 Sifter Jar 20 gram with Seals
10 5 Gram Packaging Jars

Reviews:
88 Palettes- Amazing quality and amazing colors! The pans are small but you only have to use a little so they will last quite a while.
Neutral Palette- Should be a staple in pretty much all makeup lover's collections, it definitely is in mine. Pigmented colors, ranging from whitest white to blackest black. Mixture of finishes.
Contour and Blush Palette- Holy crap the size of those things! The pans are as a powder compact (not just the pan in the compact but the compact itself.) Super pigmented so it'll last forever. Some of the contouring shades can be tricky to work with at first but pretty cool once you get the hang of it. Main trick is the heaviness and lightness of application. ALWAYS start out with a light hand, much easier to add than remove.
Blush Palette- Great variety of colors, pretty good size and the pigmentation is very nice. Even if theres a color that you don't like, theres guaranteed to be at least one that you do.
Glitter- I have yet to play with this much sadly. I did however get a little on my hand when storing it in my makeup drawer and its very fine and not scratchy. Awesome colors and the samples they give you are rather large.
Gel Liners- Loooove these! Such pretty pigmented colors and they go on so smooth. They dry fast and stay in place too. No downsides about 'em.
Brushes- I love them both so far. I had been looking for a great eyeliner brush forever, I decided to go for 2 kinds to up my chances of ending up with one I loved. They are both soft on the skin but they are just stiff enough to control the eyeliner easily.
Jars- Most of their jars come with optional/removable sifters which is pretty cool. They seem to run a little small though. I originally got the 5 gram ones for my broken eyeshadows and glitters but they are pretty small. Seem like they would be good on the go lipgloss maybe? I ended up using the 20 gram I think it was for my broken Revlon eyeshadow I got the other day.

Overall I am super happy with it all. Palettes are my weakness when it comes to makeup. I love the convenience and awesomness of them XD

annnd I am happy to say none of them were broken! ^^ They packed everything really well, I was pretty impressed.

So if you're thinking of trying out Coastal Scents I would definitely recommend it. You get so much for what you pay.

Mini Avon Order
@ 4:50 PM

Literally minutes after placing another order on Avon.com,(which included some awesome stuff that will get a blog of it's own since its the most recent package I received) I decided to browse around and found that mark. had the little carrying case for the Flip for It palettes on sale for $3.99, lip brush included.
They still had free shipping so I thought why not, it's be perfect to protect it when its in my bag, plus its all silvery :P
Of course I couldn't just limit it to that single item haha.
I ended up getting their Beyond Color Love Your Lips exfoliation kit in Neutral (an extra, had already ordered one in the previous haul)
All 4 of their seasonal lip balms as 69 cents each. Thought they'd be a fun way to stay in the holiday mood and keep mah lips soft.
annnd since I am still relatively new to mark. I decided to try their Juice Gems lipgloss since it was on sale. I got it in Juicy Cassis.

I've had time to use them so I shall review them now and swatch them in the next Avon post.
That way, since the next one will be pretty big, it'll be less to squish together in 1 post.

Lip kit- I like it quite a bit, if for no other reason, the lip colors. You have to use quite a bit of the exfoliator to feel a difference so...meh. The lip conditioner is great though and you barely have to use any for it to have an effect. The lip colors are smooth and pigmented. I honestly wasn't very picky in ordering these due to the fact that they were $1.29 each.

Lip balms- Cute packaging, neat scents. I like that they have somewhat of a tint to them, especially the red. The slight downside is the scent, funny enough being the reason I got them, can be overpowering at times. Not something I'd use constantly due to that but I didn't intend to anyway :P

Lip gloss in Juicy Cassis- Luf it <3 style="font-size:85%;">

Discount Mini Haul/Swatches
Thursday, December 18, 2008 @ 5:35 PM

I had every intention on this blog being made sooner and apparently blogspot felt differently :P
I can giggle about it now but I was a wee bit pissed that night lol
Typed up everything and it all went bye bye when I hit the publish button.
Anywho onto the post.
Days ago I made a trip to Bealls originally going after some nice heeled boots and ended up with a bit of a haul.

I came out with:
Sally Hansen/LA Cross Amazing Eyes Kit which includes-Tweezers, Eyebrow grooming wand/Eyelash comb,Eyebrow trimmer, Travel eyelash curler, Dual pencil sharpener and the cutest little case to put it all in.
(I actually use the case to carry around my little necessities in my purse <3

The Amazing Eyes grooming kit is pretty awesome. Neat tools but best of all the little carrying case.
The Revlon set is awesome for the price. All items in the kit go on pretty sheer but are buildable.
Revon Cream Eyeliners go on smooth and are decently pigmented. Mine stayed put and so far I havent had any trouble with them.
Bath and Body Works pencil liners go on smooth as well and are very pigmented. Fun metallic colors.
L'Oreal Colour Stack has 5 shades of red that are bright but can be applied lightly for a slight stain look or layered for a pow of color.
Maybelline Face Brush is awesome. So big and fluffy that I mainly use it after I finish I makeup to lightly brush off any little bits of fallout and whatnot. This is my...I'm wanting to say 3rd Maybelline brush and I love all of them.

Overall nice little collection of the day and all of it was so cheap. Most expensive of the items listed above was the Revlon Mineral Collection which was $10.99. Everything else was 3.99 or cheaper.

Annnnd now for the reason I went in the first place ^^
I ended up finding the p.e.r.f.e.c.t. boots! I grabbed those right away and a cute pair of heals (in what I thought was a size 8, which would have been way too big for me anyway XD Ever try to get away with attempting to force a shoe to be your size when it is definitly not? lol)
Anyway, grabbed both and tried them on. Boots fit like gloves and are just awesome. The heals of course made me look like a floppy footed clown T_T
So, bummed, I picked them up and put them back in their section (size 8.5 is what they ended up being haha).
Then headed over to grab the box for my boots and then there they were, the size 7 clones of the shoe I had so desperately tried to make fit my feet ^^
I am now happy owner of both pairs <3

Boots ended up being $14.99 and the shoes were $17.99 =3

I always feel guilty spending money in general but every girl has to have some heals and sexy boots right? :P

Avon Swatches/Semi FOTD
Thursday, December 11, 2008 @ 1:14 PM

Finally getting around to updating. I got my Avon shipment in on Friday, Dec. 12th after I got home from work =3
Been a bit busy and ended up doing a little unplanned discount makeup shopping trip in town so I've had a good bit to swatch and prepare for posting.
All the stuff taken out of the box:

I was so excited when it arrived. I've gotten Avon stuff before but very few things and had never tried mark.
I ordered the mark. Serious Case of Glam . It's the best way to try out all kinds of their products all in one bag.

Serious Case of Glam contents:
Sydney Flip for It Fall Kit- Natural, earthy colors great for all skintones.
Glow Xpert face shimmer in Champagne Glow- Color is accurate to the name. Creamy liquid shimmer perfect for highlighting or mixing with foundation for an all over glow.
Liquid Eyeliner/Mascara hook-up- Eyeliner in Medusa (Dark greyish brown) & Mascara in Blacklash
Bonus hook-up connectors (^for said 'hook-up'^)
5 Limited Edition mini brushes- Great size brushes especially for on the go use. All 5 are labeled for convenience.
Brushed include: Blush, Concealer, Eyeshadow, Eyeliner, & Lipcolor.
and finally an adorable little red satin make-up bag with silver glitter detail to store it all in.

Serious Case of Glam swatches:

In that same order I got a few little extra things that were on sale at the time.

Avon Satin Deluxe Eyeshadow in 'Sandstorm'
Avon Light & Luminous Face Highlighter in 'Warm Shimmers'
Avon Big Lip Color Pencil in 'Pink Champagne'
Avon 5-in-1 Portable Nail File

Pretty awesome stuff overall. The eyeshadow duo is a really good size and easy to apply. The shadows are a little soft but I didn't have a lot of fallout or anything.
The face highlighter has such pretty colors but beware a little bit goes a looong way. Adds a nice warmth to your face and blends well.
The lip color pencil is nice and smooth to apply. The color is pretty pigmented but can go on sheer with a light hand. I really like the color, however, I was expecting more of a champagne (hence the name) but it looks like more of a rose when applied.
Finally, my handy dandy nail file ^^ I love this thing.
The one I had in my purse prior to this ended up so worn out since the surface was exposed to my everyday item shuffling in my bag. The Avon one has 5 sides, all with different purposes, and slides closed just like a paper fan. The surfaces are protected and it takes up very little space, can even be attached to a key chain.

All in all I am very happy with my purchase. So happy that just a few days after getting all of it in the mail, I ordered more from the site. Lots of stuff on sale so it'll be a larger haul but won't be here for a few days so hopefully I can catch up on stuff in that time.

(Few somewhat fotd pix using the warm shimmer illuminating highlighter, sandstorm e/s and my new NYC lipstick Cafe)
